Black Friday and Cyber Monday 2025 were the biggest shopping weekend ever for Shopify store owners. A total of 14.6 billion dollars was sold over the weekend, an increase of 27 percent compared to 2024.
Impressive Numbers
Over 81 million customers worldwide shopped from stores powered by Shopify during the weekend. At peak, sales were recorded at 5.1 million dollars per minute, occurring at 12:01 PM EST on Friday afternoon.
More than 94,900 store owners experienced their best sales day ever on Shopify during the weekend, and 15,800 new entrepreneurs made their very first sale on the platform.
The most popular product categories were cosmetics, clothing, activewear, and fitness products. The average cart value ended at 114.70 dollars.
Shop Pay Thrives
Shop Pay accounted for 32 percent of all orders over the weekend, and sales through the payment solution increased by 39 percent year over year. This confirms that fast and frictionless payment is still one of the key factors for conversion.
16 percent of all orders were cross-border, indicating that an increasing number of customers are shopping from foreign stores.
What Does This Mean for You?
The numbers confirm that independent online stores on Shopify are in solid growth globally. BFCM is still the most important sales period for most e-commerce players. The earlier you set up campaigns, optimize the checkout, and communicate your offers, the better positioned you are.
