What's new in Sidekick?
The weekly active usage of Sidekick is up 4x year-over-year. This tells us something important: merchants are finding real value in the AI assistant. Now, Shopify is investing to make it even more indispensable.
Sidekick App Extensions
The biggest news is App Extensions – a new way for third-party apps to integrate with Sidekick. 15+ launch partners include Klaviyo (email/SMS marketing), Loop (returns and exchanges), Smile (loyalty programs), Judge.me (reviews), Matrixify (data migration), Seguno (email marketing), Yotpo, and more.
Extensions work in two ways:
Data extensions: Allow the partner app to display its data directly in Sidekick conversations – for example, loyalty points, email metrics, or return statistics.
Action extensions: Allow Sidekick to route the merchant to relevant features in the partner app in the middle of a conversation.
Sidekick Pulse: Proactive recommendations
Instead of waiting for merchants to ask questions, Sidekick Pulse now provides proactive recommendations on a redesigned Admin home page. It spots patterns you might not have noticed yourself.
Available on Apple Watch
For merchants on the go – in the warehouse, at a market, or in-store – Sidekick is now available directly from Apple Watch. Questions about inventory, sales, and order status are answered right where you are, without having to pull out your phone.
